The Babylon Dead is a project by Bristol MC Jman and producer Illinformed, combining UK hip-hop with ragga vocals. The track is built on the slang concept of “gully” — meaning music that comes directly from unpolished street culture.

In line with the group’s name, the lyrics focus on opposition to state power and social systems. Jman delivers fast, rhythm-driven verses about survival in the city.

Illinformed backs him with slow basslines and cold samples that create a tense, uneasy mood.

::::: G Fam Black & Mike Martinez – Thru The Eyes Of A Madman :::::

“Rap universel” by Vices & Versets (produced by Saï) is a masterful slice of street independent hip-hop. With an authentic, sharp delivery, the duo (MizR and Aeswan) honors the genre’s foundations while proving that true rap speaks a universal language. Driven by a smooth beat built on piano chords, this track is a certified head-nodder for purists who value substance over trend.

By naming the track ‘Jolie France,’ the duo nods to the romanticized, postcard image of France sold to tourists. However, the lyrics themselves expose the flip side — the life in impoverished suburbs (banlieues), systemic inequality, harsh street realities, and the daily struggle for survival.

The phrase “Jolie France” is delivered with bitter sarcasm. The artists demonstrate that for a certain segment of the population (especially immigrants and the working class), the country is nowhere near as “beautiful” as the official narrative paints it to be.
