Mentalités Sons Dangereux – 18eme Symphonie (2012) [France]
The title “18eme Symphonie” refers to the 18th arrondissement of Paris, the collective’s home district. It is an iconic place for French hip-hop, known for its contrasts, impoverished neighborhoods, and harsh street codes. The word “Symphony” is used ironically here — it is not classical music, but the music of the streets, composed of sirens, suburban noise, and heavy beats.
As in many other MSD tracks, it criticizes the French state, social inequality, and society’s biased attitude toward the residents of immigrant and poor neighborhoods.
